BIOGRAPHY

Ahmed Kamel was born in 1981 in Cairo, EG. He studied Photography and Moving Images at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig, DE (Master's degree 2014) and painting at Helwan University in Cairo, EG (BFA 2003). He took part in numerous film and photography workshops and was artist in residency at Mediamatic, Amsterdam, NL; ProHelvetia Bern, CH; NRW, Dusseldorf, DE and Amongst Neighbours, Istanbul, TR. Kamel has had solo and group exhibitions in the Middle East and Europe, including: Contemporary Image Collective (CIC), Cairo; The Townhouse Gallery, Cairo EG; Brandts Museet for Photo Art, Odense, DK; East Wing, Dubai, UAE and Folkwang Museum, Essen, DE. Ahmed Kamel lives and works in Cairo and Berlin since 2008.
